Lesson booking for instructors who work from the car

A driving school has no reception, no waiting room and no gap in the day to answer the phone. Bookings have to happen while you are teaching, which means the diary has to be trustworthy on its own.

Lessons are long and travel is real

Two hour lessons are the norm and the gap between pupils is not optional, because you have to get across town. Bookky's per-service buffer covers exactly this. Set the travel allowance once and no pupil can book into it, however tempting the gap looks on the calendar.

Lesson lengths vary too. One hour, ninety minutes, two hours and a mock test are four different products with four prices, and each carries its own availability requirement.

How instructors use it

Travel time between pupils

A buffer after every lesson keeps the diary honest about how much driving you actually do between them.

Split shifts

Set an early block and an evening block on the same day, with the school run gap in the middle closed off.

Multi-instructor schools

Each instructor keeps their own hours and pupils. Owners see everything, instructors see only their own diary.

Payment your way

Take the lesson fee up front, a deposit, or nothing at all if you settle in the car. All three are supported.

It calls them lessons

The whole interface takes its wording from your settings. Staff read as instructors, appointments read as lessons, and services read as lesson types. Nothing on screen sounds like it was written for a salon.

Common questions

Can I add clean-down time between appointments?

Yes. Each service carries its own buffer, applied after the appointment ends. A service needing fifteen minutes of turnaround will not let the next customer book into that window, while a quick service can run back to back.

Does it say 'barber' if I am not a barbershop?

No. Every label is configurable per business. Staff can read as therapists, instructors, stylists or technicians, appointments can read as sessions, treatments or lessons, and the whole customer flow follows suit.

Can one service have different lengths and prices?

Yes. Every service can carry variants, each with its own duration, price and deposit. The customer picks the service first, then the length, and availability is calculated against that exact duration.

Can each staff member have their own login?

Yes, and it is a per-business choice. In admin-managed mode one owner account controls everything and staff are resources with no logins. In self-managed mode each person signs in, sets their own hours, sees their own calendar and connects their own Stripe account. That second mode suits chair and room renters.

How do I handle holidays and sick days?

Set regular weekly hours once, then add one-off exceptions on top. Exceptions work in both directions: block a day for holiday, illness or training, or open an extra shift beyond the normal schedule. The available slots update immediately.

Does Bookky take commission on bookings?

No. Bookky charges no platform fee and no per-booking commission. Card payments go straight to your own Stripe account, and Stripe's standard processing fee is the only deduction.
