Bookkyby GCDS

How Bookky is built

The businesses using it decide what gets built next

Bookky is not designed in a vacuum and shipped at you. Nearly everything worth using in it started as a complaint from someone running a real diary.

Why this page exists

Booking software fails in specific ways that only show up in practice. A rule that seems reasonable on a whiteboard turns out to block half a salon's Saturday. A field nobody thought about turns out to be the one thing a driving instructor needs. You cannot find those problems by guessing, only by shipping to real businesses and listening to what breaks.

So every request from a live client gets logged, and the ones that recur get built. This page is that log, published rather than buried in a spreadsheet, because a prospect deserves to see whether anyone is still working on the thing they are about to depend on.

How a request becomes a feature

  1. 01

    You describe the problem

Not the feature. What went wrong on the day, and what you did instead. The best requests are stories about a specific Tuesday.

  2. 02

It gets logged against your business type

Requests are tracked by the kind of business that raised them, because a pattern across three salons matters more than one loud voice.

  3. 03

    Recurring problems get built

When the same problem arrives from unrelated businesses, it goes into the build queue. One-offs get a configuration answer instead where one exists.

  4. 04

    It ships to everyone

Features built for one client are released to all of them. There are no per-client forks and no paid unlocks.

The current board

Shipped, being built, and under consideration. Updated as requests come in.

Shipped

Live for every business, at no extra cost.
  • Ask for a review afterwards

    Aesthetics clinic

They asked: A clinic was chasing reviews by hand and only remembering to do it for about half of its appointments.

What happened: An automatic review request email goes out after the appointment has passed, on a schedule the business controls.

  • Tell me on my phone, immediately

    Multiple clients

They asked: An owner wanted to know about a new booking without keeping the dashboard open all day.

What happened: Web push notifications, delivered to the installed dashboard on Android, desktop and iOS home screen installs.

  • Filter staff by what they actually do

    Beauty studio, Liverpool

They asked: A studio with two specialists did not want customers offered a member of staff who cannot perform the treatment they just picked.

What happened: Services now carry categories, staff are assigned to the categories they cover, and the staff step only offers people who overlap with the chosen service. The no-preference option follows the same rule.

  • One service, several lengths

    Massage practice

They asked: A therapist was creating five near-identical services just to offer five session lengths, and the booking list had become unreadable.

What happened: Services gained variants. One entry now carries as many durations as you need, each with its own price and deposit, and availability is checked against the exact one chosen.

  • Pay the renter, not the shop

    Barbershop with chair renters

They asked: A shop renting out chairs did not want to receive its renters' takings and pay them back out.

What happened: Self-managed mode lets each staff member connect their own Stripe account, so their bookings are paid directly to them and never pass through the owner's balance.

Being built

Scoped and in progress.
  • Stop repeat no-show customers rebooking

    Tattoo studio

They asked: A studio wanted a way to require a deposit from a specific customer who had failed to attend twice, without changing the rule for everyone.

What happened: Being scoped. The likely shape is a per-customer flag that forces deposit mode for that person regardless of the business default.

Under consideration

Asked for, not yet committed.
  • Sell a block of sessions up front

    Personal trainer

They asked: A trainer wanted to sell ten sessions as one purchase and let the client book them off over the following months.

What happened: Under consideration. It needs a balance to track against a customer and a way to book without paying again, which touches the payment step.

  • Two people on one appointment

    Hair salon

They asked: A salon wanted a colour appointment where a stylist and an assistant are both committed for part of the time.

What happened: Under consideration. The availability engine currently reserves one person per booking, so this is a genuine change rather than a setting.

What does not get built

Requests that would make the product worse for everyone else are declined rather than quietly shelved, and you get told why. A setting that only one business would ever change is usually a sign the underlying model is wrong, and the honest fix is to change the model rather than add a switch.

The other category is anything that would put Bookky between you and your money. There will not be a commission tier, a paid unlock, or a feature that only works if payments route through us.

Got something that would make your week easier?

If you use Bookky, tell GCDS. If you do not yet, it still counts.

Common questions

Who decides what gets built next?

The businesses using it. Every feature request from a live client is logged, and the ones that recur get built. Category filtering, service variants and staff-level Stripe accounts all started as client requests rather than roadmap items.

How much does Bookky cost?

Bookky is included with Green Candle Digital Studio website packages rather than sold as a separate subscription. There is no per-booking commission and no platform fee on payments. Get in touch with GCDS for current package pricing.

How long does setup take?

A single setup call, usually the same week. GCDS configures your services, staff, opening hours and payment mode with you, and the booking flow is already part of your site build. You are not left with a blank dashboard to fill in.

Does Bookky take commission on bookings?

No. Bookky charges no platform fee and no per-booking commission. Card payments go straight to your own Stripe account, and Stripe's standard processing fee is the only deduction.
